Certainly not common, as this is the first one to come into my possession in more than 35 years of collecting antiques and vintage items.. Even if you don't collect stoneware of this type it will fit in with any'cabinet' collection of small ceramics..
Probably from the Westerwald region of Germany. Lovely smooth surface and very tactile in the hand with crisp, moulded detail. I've decided not to deep clean the surface/interior and so it still has old patina.. Height: just under 4 inches (98 mm). Condition : no cracks, repairs or restoration and since it is an antique, overall in excellent condition.
Does have 1 rough, spot of clay to chest; a scuff on beak tip and 2 old, shallow depth chips to one wing edge and tail end top, as seen in photos and most barely noticeable..
